1. Who we are
Ask Webbie is a service of AskWebbie LLC, a Missouri limited liability company ("Ask Webbie," "we," "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and share personal information when you:
- visit askwebbie.com;
- chat with Webbie on our website;
- contact us;
- join Ask Webbie and use your account.
For customers, it's part of our Terms of Service.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and account details: your name, business name, email address, phone number and password. We store passwords only in a scrambled (hashed) form.
- Business details from our Join page, contact form and chat: whether you have a website, your domain, the other sites you use (such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Etsy), what your business does, and anything else you choose to tell us.
- Design choices and files: your answers to our design questions, plus the logos, photos, menus, price lists and other files you upload, with your descriptions of them. This includes screenshots of your pages (for example of your Facebook page) that you send us for a free design or when you join; we read your business details, logo and colors from them to build your design.
- Messages: your conversations with Webbie in your account, the help requests you send, and the emails you exchange with us.
- Domain registration details: if we register a domain for you, we register it with our own company details as the registrant, so your contact details aren't used for that.
- Billing information: your plan, invoices and payment status. Stripe collects your card details directly. We receive only limited information, such as card brand, last four digits and expiration date. We never receive or store your full card number.
Information we gather to build your website
- Public information about your business. With your permission, we look at your current website and the public pages you list, such as your Facebook page or Etsy shop. We collect your business information, text, logo and photos to use on your new site. This information is public, and it's about your business.
- Domain information. We look up public records about your domain: who it's registered with, where its DNS is hosted, and the records that point its website and email. We use this to connect your website and email.
Information collected automatically
- Technical information: your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the date and time. Our servers record these to keep the Service running, prevent abuse (for example, limiting repeated form submissions), and fix problems.
- Agreement records: when you accept our Terms, we record the date, time, version and IP address as proof of your agreement.
- Sign-up details: when you join, we record your IP address, the type of device, operating system and browser you used (including whether you joined from inside an app such as Facebook or Instagram), your browser's language and time zone, and your screen size. We also record your approximate location (country, state or region, and city), taken from the address you give us, your billing address, or your IP address. We look up IP addresses in a location database kept on our own servers (DB-IP's IP to City Lite), so your IP address isn't sent to anyone for this. We use this to understand where our customers are and how they find us, and to improve our service and marketing.
3. How we use it
- To design, build, host, update and support your website, domain and email.
- To create and manage your account, and to process payments.
- To communicate with you. This includes replying to questions, sending receipts and account notices, and telling you about changes to our Service or Terms.
- To follow up when you ask about our services through our contact form or chat. You can tell us to stop at any time.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To improve Ask Webbie and understand how it's used, including where our customers are located and what devices they use (only as totals and trends; we don't sell or share it).
- To comply with law, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We don't sell your personal information. We don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don't use it to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. AI processing
Webbie, our website assistant, is powered by AI models from Anthropic. When you or our team use Webbie, the relevant information is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. That can include your messages, your website's files, the files and images you attach, and the details of your business.
Anthropic processes this information on our behalf under its commercial terms. Those terms don't allow it to use this information to train its models. We may also use AI tools to research your business from the public sources described above.
Please don't send Webbie sensitive personal information that your website doesn't need, such as Social Security numbers, health information or passwords.
6. Your website's visitors
When people visit a website we host for you, or send a message through its contact form, we process their information on your behalf, as your service provider. Contact form messages are delivered to the email address you choose, and we keep a copy so we can deliver them reliably and investigate abuse.
You're responsible for your own privacy notice to your visitors. It should mention that your website is hosted by a service provider and may load web fonts from Google. If a visitor asks us about their information, we'll refer them to you, and we'll help you respond.
8. How long we keep it
- While you're a customer: we keep your account information, files and messages.
- After your plan ends: we keep your website and files for at least 30 days, so you can rejoin or ask for your content. After that, we may delete them.
- Records we must keep: billing records, agreement records and essential correspondence are kept for as long as tax, accounting and legal requirements call for. This is typically up to 7 years.
- Messages from your website's visitors (contact forms): kept while your website is with us, then handled like the rest of your account data.
- Server logs: kept for a short time for security and troubleshooting, then deleted automatically.
- Inquiries: messages from people who contacted us but didn't join are kept for up to 2 years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Backups: may keep information for a limited extra time until they're overwritten.
9. Security
We protect your information with:
- encrypted connections (HTTPS);
- hashed passwords;
- encryption of stored website-hosting passwords;
- staff access limited to the people who need it;
- customer websites kept separate from your account.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
10. Your choices and rights
- Access, correction and deletion: you can ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We may need to keep some information to finish your service, to meet legal obligations, or to resolve disputes. You can update most account details yourself in your account.
- Marketing emails: we send service emails you can't opt out of while you're a customer, such as receipts and account notices. For anything promotional, you can opt out at any time by replying or emailing us.
- State privacy rights: depending on where you live, you may have more rights under your state's law. Examples include the right to know what we collect, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of "sales" or targeted advertising. We don't sell personal information. You can opt out of the targeted-advertising "sharing" with Meta in , or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We won't treat you differently for using your rights. You can use an authorized agent, and you can appeal a decision by replying to our response.
To make a request, email start@askwebbie.com from the email address on your account, or tell us how to verify that you're you. We'll respond within 45 days.
11. Children
Ask Webbie is for businesses, and it isn't directed to children. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think we have, email us and we'll delete it.
12. Where we process information
We're based in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. By using Ask Webbie, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.
13. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. For material changes, we'll tell customers by email or in their account at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
